Initial Content Audit (link)

Walkthrough Video (link)

Instructions & Next Steps:

Our goal in auditing your existing content is to identify where there may be room for “pruning” pages of your website that are eating up Google’s crawl budget.

When creating this audit, we review the content on your site, and based on data (like traffic intake and incoming backlinks), we then indicate whether or not a piece of content should be:

  1. Kept
  2. Redirected to a different page on your site
  3. Updated or combined with another piece of content
  4. Deleted

If there are any pieces that could be kept even if the data indicates otherwise, we will ask your team to manually review.

<aside> 🚩 While our designations are rooted in data, we understand that the decision to keep, update, or delete content may come down to a branding choice. As SEO is simply one aspect of your overarching marketing strategy, we know that you may not follow our suggestions in all cases.

Once you review the results of your audit and determine if our designations align, we can collaborate on the following:

  1. If a piece should be redirected or deleted, Break The Web will be happy to provide suggestions on the next best page to redirect these pieces to. To do so, the pieces must be deleted or removed (hidden) from your site first.
  2. If a piece should be updated, our team can add them to your Content Hub so that we can delegate our collaborative content efforts toward optimizing these pieces together.
